Denise has been training all levels of athletes in the CrossFit method for more than ten years. She has attended the Level 2 Trainer course, the Coach's Prep Course, and has completed the CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit Nutrition and CrossFit Kids Certifications. She has functioned as a trainer at several CrossFit Level 1 certs and gets tremendous satisfaction out of supporting the CrossFit community.
Involved in team sports since early childhood, Denise has participated in and coached basketball, soccer, softball and surfing. She has coached seniors as well as children and believes in the potential of each of her athletes. She enjoys seeing the confidence in her athletes as conditioning not only contributes to their fitness but to the quality of their everyday lives.
She looks forward to sharing her experience as a CrossFit trainer with others. It's also her hope that she can introduce the value of the CrossFit method to your family as she has seen its contribution to the community around us.
Steve was introduced to CrossFit while on active duty in the military. His wife Denise and he established CrossFit Marina to be a safe and fun box where athletes could pursue and maintain their peak strength and conditioning, regardless of age or level of abilities. The desire to seek and pass on more health and fitness knowledge has taken them on an at-times surprising and definitely rewarding path.
He has attended the following CrossFit Certs:
Coaches Prep Course
Level 2 - original HQ
Olympic Weightlifting - Burgener
Barbell - Rippetoe
Endurance - Mackenzie
POSE Running - Romanov
Nutrition - Wolf
Science of Exercise - Glassman, J., Kilgore, Rippetoe
Striking - Ryan
Swimming - Nabeta/Michelmore
His family enjoyed the opportunity to attend the early CrossFit Games, competing in 2007 and 2008 and he managed the Medical support for several of the first four CF Games. Our affiliate (CF Marina along with CF Brand X) administered the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Southwest Regional Qualifiers for the CrossFit Games. We are the 24th CrossFit Affiliate.
Mariah has CrossFit Level One and CrossFit Kids certifications and has been around the community since the age of 13. She has coached at CrossFit Campbell and CrossFit Sunnyvale and uses her CF experiences to support her work with patients with communications disabilities. She has competed in scholastic soccer, basketball, swimming, waterpolo, and field hockey.
Mariah has trained with Sage Burgener, and has experience with instruction in the Olympic lifts. Her opportunity to demonstrate and work under one of the previously top ranked teen female Olympic weight lifters in the United States has given her a unique eye to train these lifts. Mariah loves working with athletes of all ages and has been involved as a member of the certification trainer-team for the CrossFit Kids program.
